Our Story
| CustomMasterpieces co-owners Paul Coverdell and Tom Broadwell met while stationed in Germany with the United States Air Force. Both returned to the States when their enlistments ended, but Paul and his family loved Europe so much that they eagerly packed their bags and moved back when Paul was offered a civilian position there. |  |
An avid bicyclist, Paul took advantage of every opportunity to explore the various landscapes and cultures of Europe from the seat of his bike. While bicycling through Bulgaria on one such trip, he stopped at a market area in a small village where local artists sat before their easels soliciting business from passersby. On a whim, he decided to have his daughters’ portraits painted from photographs he carried in his wallet.
 |  | The quality of the finished portraits far exceeded his expectations, especially given the price that Paul had paid for them. Which triggered an idea: Why not establish a business that uses European talent to produce high-quality portraits from photographs at an affordable price? |
Paul tested and proved this idea in 2003 with MVPPortraits.com, and in spring 2005 he partnered with Tom to turn his successful experiment into a thriving company. |  |
